Pure Ghee Designs is an accessories label that creates textile bags crafted from unusual fabrics sourced during travels to the far off corners of the country.
Started in 2010 by Aditi Prakash, the name Pure Ghee came about when one of her craftsperson presented her with a dabba (tin container) of pure ghee – It was the best gift he could think of, it signified purity and a taste that had no substitute. Pure Ghee Designs symbolises Indianess, purity, and assurance of quality.
Always on the lookout for unique and quirky finds, Aditi uses fabrics that have a story to tell – be it the Gamcha from the Bihar, Kitschy lungis from Hyderabad and Cochin, block printed Ajrak from Bhuj, or the Shamiana material under which you stand at innumerable weddings – they all find a place within the Pure Ghee Designs aesthetic.
Years of working with women in traditional communities has made Aditi zealous about not wasting even a scrap of fabric. Her Tutti Frutti range is made from painstakingly putting together pieces of fabric left over in the studio. The charms which have now become a signature of all Pure Ghee bags, are also made from fabric waste, by women living near the studio.
Shortlisted for the Young Creative Entrepreneur award by British Council in 2010, Aditi is an industrial designer based out of New Delhi, India. At present Pure Ghee focuses on making bags using varied Indian textiles, distinguished by their finish, craftsmanship and detailing. Ghee Bags are fun loving and hardworking.
Pure Ghee bags are being retailed from design stores in India, UK and France.
